INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) :-
                          ICT or information and communication technology is an another extensional term for information technology which state is the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications such as telephone lines and wireless signals, computers as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware ,storage and audio visual systems which enable users to access, store, transmit and manipulate information.
The term ICT also used to refer to the convergence of audio visual and telephone networks with computer networks through a single cabling or link system. However, ICT has no Universal definition as the concepts the methods and applications involved in ICT are constantly evolving on an almost daily basis. The broadness of ICT covers any product that will store, retrive, manipulate, transmit or receive information electronically in a digital form that is personal computers, digital television, email, robots. 
ICT is the infrastructure and components that enable modern computing.
ROLE OF ICT IN EDUCATION:-
               Nowadays the role of Information and Communication Technology in the education sector plays an important role, especially in the process of empowering the technology to the educational activities. Technology in another side can be the most effective way to increase the students knowledge. Being aware of significant role of ICT in our life, especially in the educational activities, education authority should be wise enough in implementing the strategies to empower ICT in supporting the teaching and learning process in the classroom. ICT is not just the Bloom of the educational activities, but also it will be the secondary option to improve the effective and meaningful educational process. 
                            Information and Communication Technology can contribute to Universal access to education, equity in education, the delivery of quality learning and teaching, teachers' professional development and more efficient education management, governance and administration. The organisation intersectoral platform for ICT in education focuses on these issues through the joint work of three of its sectors : communication and information, education and Science.
The following are the aims and objectives of ICT implementation in education:-
(1) to implement the principle of lifelong learning or education.
(2) to increase a variety of educational services and medium or method.
(3) to promote equal opportunities to obtain education and information.
(4) to develop a system of collecting and disseminating educational information.
(5) to promote Technology literacy of all citizens, especially for students.
(6) to develop distance education with National contents.
(7) to promote the culture of learning at school (development of learning skills, expansion of optional education, open source of education, etc).
